VDCU: Video compression and distribution in TCP/IP-environment
The video compression and distribution system is designed for remotely controlled video surveillance. It compresses video signal, distributes compressed video over TCP/IP and decompresses video for playback. In addition to these functions the system includes camera control functions integrated into the same user interface. The system also includes user access control and video distribution for several simultaneous viewers. Both the video compression and decompression are done in software with commercial PC-hardware. No dedicated hardware codecs are needed.
Note that the video player has now been made to work with PDA device using a GPRS or WLAN connection, allowing mobile use.
